Years ago, Parkes stared death in the face. The victim of severe Crohn's Disease, he had undergone 10 major operations and the medical team working on his case had made it clear there was nothing more they could do for him.
Out of work for months, he faced not only a hopeless future, but severe financial problems as well. An invitation was issued to him to visit Medjugorje. Reportedly, the Blessed Mother had been appearing daily to a group of young people there since 1981. While there, Parkes received a miraculous healing, both spiritual and physical. Shortly afterwards, he decided to dedicate his life to witnessing to the great healing power of God.
In November of 1992, he released his first album in the United States, titled "Let Me Live." The recording of this pro-life song was the fulfillment of a promise that he had made while in Medjugorje in gratitude to God for the great healings that had taken place in his life.
This new anthem for the preborn was sung, at the request of Mother Theresa, live on national television and to an audience of over 30,000 during Mother's historic visit to Knock, Ireland's Marian shrine.
Today, Parkes is an internationally known singer whose ministry has taken him throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Europe. He has released several albums which can be previewed at irishrecords.com.
