Criminal damaging

Political signs damaged: A man reported Oct. 23 that someone damaged two political signs by removing them from their frames while they were in his front yard in Valleydale Road's 2500 block since the day before.

Arrest warrants

Man arrested during traffic stop: A Stow man, 21, was arrested after Stow police realized he was wanted by Stow Municipal Court in connection with charges they had filed and they stopped his vehicle on Hudson Drive at Steels Corners Road at about 8:35 p.m. Oct. 23.

According to court records, the man was wanted on a domestic violence charge filed in July and for failing to pay about $600 in fines and court costs on a driving under suspension charge he pleaded guilty to in May. The domestic violence charge was in connection with an allegation that he punched a woman in the face while they were at their home on July 22, according to court records.

The man was given a court date and released on a 10 percent of $1,000 bond.


Tools stolen from vehicles: The owner of a business in Allen Road's 4800 block reported Oct. 22 that someone took items from the unlocked cab of a tractor trailer truck and from a pickup truck while the vehicles were parked outside the business since the day before, including tools totaling $1,500 in value, a $150 CB radio and a $100 gift card.

Clothing reported stolen: A Ravenna man, 66, was charged with misdemeanor theft after police responded to a report that the man took clothing totaling about $630 in value from a store in Kent Road's 4300 block on Oct. 20. The man was given a summons to appear in Stow Municipal Court and released.

Wallet stolen from purse: A Stow woman reported that while she was shopping at a store in Kent Road's 4400 block during the late morning Oct. 19, someone unknown reached into her purse while it was in a shopping cart and took her $20 wallet. According to a police report, the wallet contained six credit cards, three bank cards and a driver's license. No charges to the credit or bank cards were reported. The woman said she never left the cart, but did look away from it periodically while shopping.

Medical supplies taken from vehicle: A Toledo woman reported Oct. 19 that someone took a bag containing medical supplies, including therapeutic socks, soap and IV tubes totaling about $500 in value, from her vehicle while it was in the parking lot of a store in Kent Road's 4300 block in the early morning. The woman said the vehicle was locked, but a police report did not indicate whether there was damage or signs of forced entry.

Lock taken from store: An Akron man, 30, was charged with misdemeanor theft after police responded to a report that he took a $300 lock from a store in Kent Road's 4300 block on Oct. 19. The man was given a Stow Municipal Court date and released on a personal bond.

Residents report vehicles entered: Two residents of a neighborhood reported Oct. 18 that someone entered unlocked vehicles during the night and rummaged through them.

A man reported someone took a pack of cigarettes, a lighter and several pieces of unspecified mail from his vehicle while it was outside his home in Turnberry Trail's 4600 block.

A woman reported someone entered multiple vehicles while they were outside her home in Progress Park Drive's 2800 block, but she did not believe anything had been taken.

Car stolen from parking lot: A man reported Oct. 17 that someone took his $9,000, 2012 Kia Optima from his condominium complex parking lot in Cox Drive's 4200 block during the previous week. A police report did not indicate whether the car was locked or if the key was in it.

Political sign stolen: A man reported Oct. 17 that someone took a $20 political sign from his front yard during the night.


Front door kicked in: A woman reported someone apparently kicked in her home's front door in Falconswalk Court's 3900 block while she was away for a little over an hour in the evening Oct. 21. A $50 bill was reported stolen, but police said several electronic items and some other cash was untouched in plain view.

Police said there were several pieces of wood and pieces of the door's lock assembly on the living room floor near the door and the door's exterior side had a muddy footprint on it. The woman said she also found a rear sliding door, which she never uses, ajar.

Police said they were able to speak with one neighbor, who did not see anything and they checked several other homes in the area without seeing any signs of a break-in.

Drug paraphernalia

Man cited during traffic stop: A North Main Street man, 20, was cited with minor misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession after police stopped his vehicle for a headlight violation on North Main at North River Road at about 3 a.m. Oct. 24 and found he had two marijuana pipes in his possession.
